A letter from our Brewery President, John Cheek:
“The 4th of July will be a special day this year. On July 5th, our building will be purchased by Orlando Health and we will be gone. I’ve heard many questions concerning our proposed move. “Where are you going?” of course has been the most popular question, but as of now we are looking at 3 locations all within Orange County.
When Orlando Brewing moved into our current location, we had lots of extra space. Now; 18 years later, we are truly cramped for space. Moving will give us the opportunity to set up the brewery efficiently, offering many possibilities.
Having food will be the most noticeable change; allowing a full service bar. In addition to serving our organic ales and lagers, pool tables, dart boards, a library, and other volunteer projects will fill out some of the space. A permanent indoor music venue will truly be the main addition to the move that I am personally looking forward to.
On my wish list of new equipment is a CO2 recovery system, which would make Orlando Brewing 100% organic. A new boiler to continue to brew during our move. Lastly, a new chiller system sized to our brewery; which would save us a considerable amount on our power bill.
Moving our 15BBL brew house, as well as 11 fermentors and 7 brite tanks will be a chore we expect to take the whole month of June 2022. Currently, we are in our save and fund mode which includes all of our friends of the brewery and anyone who just enjoys organic craft beers.
Orlando Brewing was in the process of accumulating funds but as everyone knows, COVID happened. Those funds were used to keep the doors open and not the move we had intended them for. As such, we find ourselves short of money for the move to our new location. In order to raise funds, we have initiated a fund Orlando Brewing project for our move and set up.
This is quite a change for me. I very rarely ask anyone for help, it’s just not the way I am. I find myself in a situation where I have no other options available to me. So, I am asking for help from those that have the ability to help us Keep Orlando Brewing.”
