Meet the President

To say John Cheek has a love of craft beer would be a bit of an understatement. In 1987 Cheek, now President of Orlando Brewing, became an avid homebrewer and by 1989 had founded the Central Florida Home Brewer’s Club. In 2004 Cheek came to own Orlando Brewing and despite a 2005 eminent domain mandated move -- which resulted in over a year of shut-down -- John labored to re-open his brewery on Atlanta Ave, just west of the Amtrak station. And to much avail. Orlando Brewing has now thrived in this location for over seven years.

John Cheek is a Florida native who hails from Mt. Dora and is a graduate of the University of Florida. John served as an officer in the U.S. Army for nine years before a medical retirement. After his time in the Army he became a financial programmer before taking time off to be a stay at home parent. John has two children: a son who is still too young to drink and a daughter who inherited his passion for craft beer and is now Orlando Brewing’s Operations Manager.
